Curcumin Phytosome Structure
Curcumin is a natural phenol found in Turmeric (a member of the Ginger family) and has many health benefits. It is the primary Curcuminoid found in Turmeric and accounts for Turmeric’s yellow color. Curcumin supplements are basically Turmeric Extracts standardized to a specific percentage of Curcumin. Since Curcumin is difficult for the body to absorb, scientists developed a Curcumin Phytosome. A Phytosome is a phytonutrient that is already bound to a phospholipid simulating the nutrient’s processing by digestion. Since the phytonutrient is “preprocessed”, this form of Curcumin is highly absorbable by the body. Curcumin phytosome benefits the body by exerting powerful Antioxidant effects suppressing Superoxide, Singlet Oxygen and Peroxynitrite Free Radicals.
